Halloween in Freddy Krugerville

We celebrated Halloween this year, but over a month of A Nightmare on Elm Street movies!  I watched all 10 in a row.

Other than that, we didn't do much.  We dressed Coleman up like a crab.  We handed out last year's left over candy.  It was lollipops so it wasn't like they had gone bad.  We only had 5 groups of trick or treaters anyway.  We didn't really decorate.  I didn't even really dress up at work.  Kind of a bummer.

Next year will be better.

Our 2nd Anniversary!

Yesterday was our 2nd wedding anniversary.  We started the day off at the Denton dog park, Wiggly Field.  We were there alone for a while, but 5 other small dogs showed up to play with Coleman.  It was fun watching him try to be Alpha dog when he is only 5 pounds.  At night, we went to Uptown to Texas de Brazil.  It's one of those fancy "meat on stick" joints.  We had a Groupon.  The food was good and it wasn't very crowded.  Afterwards, we went to the Dubliner for a drink and people watching.

Jacksonville Trip

In April, I got to go to Jacksonville to visit my parents.  I didn't know until I got there that my sister would be there too.  We watched a lot of TV and went to the movies.  We also went to see the Jacksonville Suns.  They are a minor league baseball team.  The entertainment at the game was Whiplash the Cowboy monkey.  He is a little monkey that rides a god.  He did a few tricks.  He was so cute!  We also went to Jacksonville Beach for opening weekend.  It strange to think about swimming in April.  I got to see a friend of mine from camp, Vicki Carter, who had recently moved to the area.  I hadn't seen her in about 5 years!

Coleman's 1st Spring Break

For Spring Break, we went to Grandpappy Point on Lake Texoma.  This was Coleman's first trip.  We sent 2 days fishing with David's parents.  Coleman rode well in the boat.  He wore a life jacket in case he fell out.  We didn't catch any fish, but we had a lot of fun.

A Night at the Oscars 2011

Jodi held her annual Oscar party again this year.  Elbert did all the food.  I brought the ballots.  At the end of the night, The King's Speech was the big winner.  Unfortunatly, I was off my game and had to pas the staute to Stephanie.  The ironic part of it is she doesn't watch very many movies!

My Knee Surgery

I really tried to avoid it, but it finally happened.  I had to have a scope on my left knee.  The doctor had been telling me that it might be PVNS.  That is condition where there is an abnormality in the lining of one of the joint similar to a tumor.  How to get rid of that is to cut open the skin and muscles and "scoop" it out.  So, I was really nervous.  Plus, this is the first real surgery I have ever had.

To add to the stress, the weather was horrible.  There was ice and snow everywhere.  I thought it was going to get canceled.  I went in at noon for a 1 PM surgery.  Because of the weather, I didn't get seen until 6 PM.  It wouldn't have been so bad, except I was so thirsty!

Turns out it was only chronic inflammation and cartilage damage.  After knowing what it could have been I was so happy I could have danced a jig.  But I will be on crutches for 2 weeks and then physical therapy after that.  Tommie and David will be taking care of me for the next few days.  Thanks!

Christmas

This is our second Christmas in the new house, but the 1st we were able to decorate for.  (Last year we went to New Zealand.)  David's parent gave us a tree and we decorated with ornaments from our childhood.  We put icicle lights on the house.  We watch A Christmas Story about 100 times.  It was a normal Xmas.  It was our 1st with Coleman and out 1st without Scully.

TMC Christmas

This is the 1st year the TMC pool (only) has entered the Holiday Decorating contest.  Our theme was kind of all over the place.  We tried to stay with read, silver, & gold colors.  It was a great team building experience.  We wrapped both slides with lights.  (The slides are well sealed so there is no cause for alarm.  No one will get shocked.)  And painted the back windows.  We hung bows & ornaments.  Four Judges from the City Manager's Office came and judged.  We won Best Wet Christmas!

State Fair of Texas 2010

We never really go to the State Fair.  But a guy at my work gave us 1 free ticket, so we decided to check it out this year.  We went on the very last day.  David stopped to talk to a guy in the parking lot, so he ended up getting us into the fair for free.  We got there at 9 AM, thinking we would beat the crowd.  We did beat the crowd because nothing was open yet!  So we wandered around for a while until the Tom Landry exhibit opened.  It was short, but they had a lot of things that belonged to the great Cowboys coach, like his Superbowl rings.  We had to go talk to people in the Ford truck area.  None of which knew any answers to the technical questions David had about the new diesel engines.  The petting zoo, mainly for kids, was good times.  They had more than just the average goats and pigs.  After that, we rode the ferris wheel.  Then it was time for lunch.  There was so many choices.  We went for the Fried Chocolate.  It was so good!  I wander to get another one, but we didn't have enough tickets.  We ate the free samples in the Food & Fiber Barn instead.  After that, we saw the dog show and bird show.  Then we called it a day.
