Halloween in Freddy Krugerville

We celebrated Halloween this year, but over a month of A Nightmare on Elm Street movies!  I watched all 10 in a row.

Other than that, we didn't do much.  We dressed Coleman up like a crab.  We handed out last year's left over candy.  It was lollipops so it wasn't like they had gone bad.  We only had 5 groups of trick or treaters anyway.  We didn't really decorate.  I didn't even really dress up at work.  Kind of a bummer.

Next year will be better.

Our 2nd Anniversary!

Yesterday was our 2nd wedding anniversary.  We started the day off at the Denton dog park, Wiggly Field.  We were there alone for a while, but 5 other small dogs showed up to play with Coleman.  It was fun watching him try to be Alpha dog when he is only 5 pounds.  At night, we went to Uptown to Texas de Brazil.  It's one of those fancy "meat on stick" joints.  We had a Groupon.  The food was good and it wasn't very crowded.  Afterwards, we went to the Dubliner for a drink and people watching.

Coleman's 1st Spring Break

For Spring Break, we went to Grandpappy Point on Lake Texoma.  This was Coleman's first trip.  We sent 2 days fishing with David's parents.  Coleman rode well in the boat.  He wore a life jacket in case he fell out.  We didn't catch any fish, but we had a lot of fun.

Coleman is ready for the boat.

Christmas

This is our second Christmas in the new house, but the 1st we were able to decorate for.  (Last year we went to New Zealand.)  David's parent gave us a tree and we decorated with ornaments from our childhood.  We put icicle lights on the house.  We watch A Christmas Story about 100 times.  It was a normal Xmas.  It was our 1st with Coleman and out 1st without Scully.

David's Surgeries are Finially Over!!

David got released from the hospital today from his last surgery!  We are so happy to be out before Christmas!

David has had ulcerative colitis for about 10 years.  It is a painful bowel disorder similar to Crohn's Disease.  No regular treatments were working, so he had to have his large intestine removed and his insides reconstructed.  It was a long process that took 3 surgeries.  The first was was in April.  He was in the hospital for 11 days.  The second one was in August.  He was in the hospital for 14 days that time.  This last one he got out in 9.  This procedure will make it easier for him to digest.

I asked David to start a blog about what he was going through for other people.  This procedure, called a total colectomy, is more common than you think.  But it is not talked about.  I found a blog by a guy in Canada before we went through this, but I lost it.  I wanted to him to let his fellow "ostamates" that everything is going to be okay.  But he wasn't into it.

I am so happy it's finally over!!!

Thanksgiving

We had our first Thanksgiving in Krugerville this year!  The whole Nieman/Farris fam was there.  I attempted to decorate.  I went back to Bed Bath and Beyond 3 times to get the right size tablecloth.  Everyone got to meet our new addition, Coleman.  We has an array of food from chicken to turkey to some vegan thing.  For dessert we had one of Elbert's chocolate pecan pies.  It was to die for!  Hopefully we can do it again next year!

State Fair of Texas 2010

We never really go to the State Fair.  But a guy at my work gave us 1 free ticket, so we decided to check it out this year.  We went on the very last day.  David stopped to talk to a guy in the parking lot, so he ended up getting us into the fair for free.  We got there at 9 AM, thinking we would beat the crowd.  We did beat the crowd because nothing was open yet!  So we wandered around for a while until the Tom Landry exhibit opened.  It was short, but they had a lot of things that belonged to the great Cowboys coach, like his Superbowl rings.  We had to go talk to people in the Ford truck area.  None of which knew any answers to the technical questions David had about the new diesel engines.  The petting zoo, mainly for kids, was good times.  They had more than just the average goats and pigs.  After that, we rode the ferris wheel.  Then it was time for lunch.  There was so many choices.  We went for the Fried Chocolate.  It was so good!  I wander to get another one, but we didn't have enough tickets.  We ate the free samples in the Food & Fiber Barn instead.  After that, we saw the dog show and bird show.  Then we called it a day.
