Jacksonville Trip

In April, I got to go to Jacksonville to visit my parents.  I didn't know until I got there that my sister would be there too.  We watched a lot of TV and went to the movies.  We also went to see the Jacksonville Suns.  They are a minor league baseball team.  The entertainment at the game was Whiplash the Cowboy monkey.  He is a little monkey that rides a god.  He did a few tricks.  He was so cute!  We also went to Jacksonville Beach for opening weekend.  It strange to think about swimming in April.  I got to see a friend of mine from camp, Vicki Carter, who had recently moved to the area.  I hadn't seen her in about 5 years!

Thanksgiving

I was lucky enough to have my parents come to me for Thanksgiving! They arrived the day we closed on our house. So I was able to put them to work the next day. The pictures I took of them cleaning are on the camera that David took river rafting pictures with last summer. So that means we will never see them.

On Thanksgiving, I made a reservation at Lawry's. None of us had been there before. They were having a Thanksgiving special. Tommie, Bobby, Tim, and Melissa met us there. The food was really good. I even liked the stuffing. (I only like my mom's stuffing.) We had turkey, potatoes, stuffing, Yorkshire pudding, sour dough bread and lots of asparagus. Some people go Prime Rib as well. We went home after that and had pecan pie, pumpkin pie, and Elbert's banana nut pie. Yummy, as usual!

We had to break out on the party poppers at the end. It isn't an Anderson holiday with a ridiculous picture of people in paper hats. Then we watched a little football and fell asleep early.

New House!

We closed on our new house in Krugerville! In the morning we met the realtor at the house to do a walk through. The previous own did a really good job cleaning up. We went to the title company up the road and filled out all the paperwork. We had to wait a few hours until the paperwork went trough to get the key. Finally, in the afternoon, I went back up to get the key. I went to the house and realized I was locked out. The realtor had locked the deadbolt on the way out and the only key I had went to the front door knob. So I had to wait 45 minutes for a locksmith.

We got right to work as soon as we could. The day after closing, David's parent's neighbor, Fransisco, came over to rekey the whole place. My parents and David's Mom, Tommie, went to town on cleaning the house. My mom made the blinds so clean you could eat off of them! We have started painting the closets. Who knew those could get so dirty?

We are waiting finish painting and recarpet the place, then we can move. We will definitely be in before we go on our honeymoon.

Wedding Weekend: Saturday

I was too excited to sleep on our wedding day. I woke up at 4 AM. Our hair appointment at the Cutting Edge Hair Salon in Carrollton wasn't until 6:15 AM. My mom, bridesmaids, and I got our hair done and were out the door by 8:30 AM. It had started raining again.

I got to the Bingham House first. Everyone else was close behind me. The flowers from Rain Florist Designs were out on the tables. They looked great. After we changed, we took a few pictures. We were out on the balcony in the front of the house. People driving by were whistling at us. The groomsmen got their pictures taken too, but I heard it took a while to get their act together. One of them went out to get something to eat. Grumble, grumble...

The ceremony was very sweet. We had to walk through the rain to get there. But it was worth it to see David's smiling face. My mom cried. When we were done we kind of huddled in the corner. Then took off to the front of the house to take more pictures. I just wanted to get to the food and water part. I think I was getting a little snippy at the photographer. David and I took some pictures alone while people watched our slide show and had appetizers.

We made our grand entrance to the reception to "Welcome to the Jungle" by Guns 'N Roses. I forgot we were supposed to go right into the first dance. So we went around and hugged like 3 tables of people until they got us out on the dance floor. Our song was "All I Want is You" by U2. Then it was food time! The meatballs were so good. All the other food was great too, but the meatballs were amazing! After the father/daughter dance and mother/son dance, we did the cake and toasts. Ebi's was a very sweet spin on one of my favorite camp songs, "Dreams". David's best man, John Carpenter, did one too.

Then it was time to get your boogie on! The Limbo Contest is always a big Anderson tradition. My cousin, Stacey Malaret, always wins. She has a 5 wedding record. But in a shocking twist, David's cousin's husband, Tim Wong, won. The DJ played the "Cupid Shuffle." My mom jumped in after watching Dorian for a few minutes.

Then is was time for our getaway. It was still raining! So the horse and carriage was out. We got to take a ride in the antique car, Pearl. It was a 1944 Plymouth. Our remaining guest lined up on either side of us and threw dried lavender. That stuff smells great, but is a pain to get off. Then it was off to the after party.
