Lake Bob Trip

It's been 4 months since I've been hiking. And that Lake Ray Roberts trip could barely be called hiking since the trail was washed out and I had to take the cement one. Anyway, when I mentioned it to Aubrie she said she wanted to go. Then Dorian said he wanted to go too. So we made a day out of it. The morning started with rain, lots of needed rain. So, instead of going to Lake Texoma, we headed east to Lake Bob Sandlin State Park in Pittsburg, TX. Dorian was the navigator on the way there. It would have helped if he was wearing his glasses. The rain didn't stop until we got to Sulphur Springs. We ate lunch at Popeye's. Yummy! It took us 3 hours to get there. At the end, we were winging it freestyle with no map. When we got to the park, there was a historic cemetery there. If there are graves around, I am going to take pictures of them! Of the grave markers left, there were 2 of Confederate soldiers. Dorian and Aubrie didn't really like that idea. After the detour, we saw the lake. The water level is so low, you can smell the dirt. We got on a trail that is a certified Volksmarch trail. I'm not exactly sure what that means, but we just followed the signs. There was some back tracking involved. I think we may have gone between 5-8 miles. My dogs were barking when we were done. On the way home we stopped at a house that was selling exotic animals. They had camels, kangaroos, zebras, and these little pony/donkey things. It was really strange. It took us 2 hours to get home. Dorian slept the whole way. Aubrie and I chowed down on a pizza as fast as we could when we got back. We will get back to our original destination of the Cross Timbers Trail at a later date. Stay tuned!

Spooky grave stone!
