Weekend Weekend: Saturday, Part 2

The After Party at Holiday Inn Express Breakfast was fun! It was good to be able to hang out with everyone and talk. And not be cramped or have to worry about people we didn't know. It was still raining when we got there. After lugging everything up to the our room, I took a shower. We came back down and played the game Catch Phrase for a while. That game is classic! It started out as only 4 of use playing and ended with 12 or 13. I think we had an uneven number. Dad bought us pizza, bread sticks, salad, and lasagna for a place called Crazy Tomatoes. It must have moved into Allen after I moved out. But the garlic sauce on their bread sticks was good! After dinner, it had stopped raining for a little bit, so Aunt Susie, Jenelle, and I went to go watch Scott skate at the Allen Skate Park. He is really good. Hopefully you can view the videos below. David and I retired to our room around 9. Then came back down to see Tim, Melissa, and Aunt Judy who were fashionably late. I was so tired I couldn't stay up. It had been a long, fun day.

Another Revernd Concert

The Reverend Horton Heat played at the House of Blues this past weekend. David and I went with his friend, Kevin. As we were waling to the building, we past the tour bus. And who stepped out of the bus right when we walked past? Jimbo!! He is so cool! He like me take a picture with him. We got inside and I went to the bathroom. As I was walking out of the bathroom, David opened the women's bathroom door and yelled my name. I thought the place was on fire or something! He grabbed my hand and we ran to the lobby where Jim Heath was standing in line at the merch table. OMG! He turned around and saw us and we talked to him for a little big. He let me take a picture too. I am so lucky. The show was great, as always. They place some new ones and the cover they did was "Ace of Spades" by Motorhead. Afterward, we went to Lee Harvey's for some water. I can't wait to see them again September.

The House of Blues is a nice place.

Help Joe Groh

The Groh family used to come into the rec center all the time. They are very nice people. About a year or two ago they moved to Grapevine. So I haven't seen or talked to them in a long time. A few weeks ago, Joe, the father, had a bicycle accident that left him paralyzed from the neck down. He is searching for the good samaritan who helped him. Me for President!

R.I.P. Washoe the Chimp

Washoe the chimp passed away a few weeks ago. She was 42. She was not just your ordinary captive chimp. She was one of the biggest tourist attractions at Central Washington University is the Chimposium. Sometime in the 1960s, Jane Goodall taught chimpanzees to speak American Sign Language. And she ended up housing those chimps (not monkeys) at Central.

You can visit their home for an hour and get a tour and a lecture. When I went to Central, I went twice. The second time, I remember one of the chimps signing "run" and pointing to people at the audience. He wanted the person he pointed at to run around for his enjoyment. After they did what he said, he would clap his hands in delight and move on to the next person. After about 3 people making idiots of themselves, he pointed to me. I shook my head no. He signed again and pointed at me. I was thinking, "I am not going to run around in front of these people for a monkey!" That made him mad and he started pounding on the glass. So, we had to stop the show. Everyone thought I was a jerk for not amusing the monkey. Excuse, me, chimp, there is a difference.

My radio partner and I started a campaign once to get people to cote for Washoe for ASCWU President. A girl was running unopposed and we thought we would generate some competition for her. Washoe got about 200 votes. Unfortunately, she didn't win.

Drumline Meets Revenge of The Nerds

That was the title on the site of this visit, so I decided to plagiarize. I saw this video on Facebook and I had to share it. It is a video of the Cal Berkley marching band doing a video game theme show. The game they played at was against WSU, where my sister went to school. If we did this show when I was in the high school marching band, I would have gone crazy over it! It looks so fun. They were very creative. See how many games you can name.
