Riding, Riding, Riding
Saturday, after the Easy Over Easy Egg Hunt, Coffy, Aubrie, and I went bike riding. We met at the Plano Senior Recreation Center on Harrington Park. I hadn't been out riding since David gave his bike away. Coffy said she had only rode her bike a few times and it had sat out side for a while. During the first 20 minutes, Coffy's chain locked up and we had to dislodge it with my keys. So, she was stuck in 2nd gear the whole time. Coffy and Aubrie wore helmets, but I refused to mess up my hair that way. We rode on the Chilsom Trail to Schimelpfenig Library and back. It was about 5.35 miles. It took us about an hour. We had such a great workout that we had to go pig out at Genghis Grill before we went home. Aubrie just bought a bike rack for her car, so hopefully we can make it a regular thing.

Race for the Cure 2007
Yesterday was the North Texas Race for Cure. I decided I wanted some company this year, so I formed a team of City of Plano employees and a few recreation center patrons. The team name was the Plano Cure-saders. There was 30 who signed up. Three ladies were survivors. Aubrie and I designed some t-shirts and Artistic Textile Designs made them for $5 each. We met at Carpenter Park and caravaned over to EDS. Mary brought her dog, Zeke. He is the best dog I've ever met. He's so friendly! They change the route this year so it would start and end at EDS. The course was 5K, which is 3.1 miles. I thought we were going to get rained out to start with. But it held off and it was only about 65 - 70 degrees. We got a team picture taken before the race started. Hopefully that will be up on the Internet soon. They didn't update the site yet. I paid for the chip timing again this year, but I forgot to pick up the chip before the race. They weren't embedded in the bibs like they were last year. I timed it with my watch and I finished in 33 minutes ad 20 seconds. That is another record for me. David tried to hold on with me as much as he could, but he slowed down after 1 mile. He finished in 47 minutes. That is really good, considering he has taken a few years off of working out. I am so proud of him! We had to split pretty quickly after the race so I could get to work. But thank you to everyone who came out and donated to the cause. I appreciate you!
What a good dog!
Almost time to start.

More Carpenter Halloween Pics
Since I open on Tuesdays, I wasn't able to see everyone's costumes. Cindy closed, so she took more pictures of the part-timers.

Lake Bob Trip
It's been 4 months since I've been hiking. And that Lake Ray Roberts trip could barely be called hiking since the trail was washed out and I had to take the cement one. Anyway, when I mentioned it to Aubrie she said she wanted to go. Then Dorian said he wanted to go too. So we made a day out of it. The morning started with rain, lots of needed rain. So, instead of going to Lake Texoma, we headed east to Lake Bob Sandlin State Park in Pittsburg, TX. Dorian was the navigator on the way there. It would have helped if he was wearing his glasses. The rain didn't stop until we got to Sulphur Springs. We ate lunch at Popeye's. Yummy! It took us 3 hours to get there. At the end, we were winging it freestyle with no map. When we got to the park, there was a historic cemetery there. If there are graves around, I am going to take pictures of them! Of the grave markers left, there were 2 of Confederate soldiers. Dorian and Aubrie didn't really like that idea. After the detour, we saw the lake. The water level is so low, you can smell the dirt. We got on a trail that is a certified Volksmarch trail. I'm not exactly sure what that means, but we just followed the signs. There was some back tracking involved. I think we may have gone between 5-8 miles. My dogs were barking when we were done. On the way home we stopped at a house that was selling exotic animals. They had camels, kangaroos, zebras, and these little pony/donkey things. It was really strange. It took us 2 hours to get home. Dorian slept the whole way. Aubrie and I chowed down on a pizza as fast as we could when we got back. We will get back to our original destination of the Cross Timbers Trail at a later date. Stay tuned!
Ready to go!
