Annual TMC Pumpkin Contest 2011

Another Halloween, another pumpkin contest at TMC.  The competition was fierce this year.  My goal was to do something simple since the island I did last year took forever, then it rotted, then I had to do it over.  I decided on Hello Kitty.  And I came in dead last!  What a blow to the ego.  People thought it was cute, just not good enough to win.  I am going to have to step it up next year.

Halloween in Freddy Krugerville

We celebrated Halloween this year, but over a month of A Nightmare on Elm Street movies!  I watched all 10 in a row.

Other than that, we didn't do much.  We dressed Coleman up like a crab.  We handed out last year's left over candy.  It was lollipops so it wasn't like they had gone bad.  We only had 5 groups of trick or treaters anyway.  We didn't really decorate.  I didn't even really dress up at work.  Kind of a bummer.

Next year will be better.

TMC Pumpkin Contest

TMC has a Pumpkin Decorating Contest every year.  I was very excited to participate this year.  So excited, in fact, that I started way too early.  I had a great idea for the theme of my pumpkin to be my favorite show, LOST.  But the more I thought about it, the more expensive it became.  So I decided to just do an island.  I painted my pumpkin over a week in advance and it rotted.  One part of my beach became a sink hole.  So I redid it the day before the contest.  And after all that work, I still lost.  The patrons voted.  The result of everyone's pumpkins was great.  So many creative ideas.

Halloween at the Farris House

This was our 1st Halloween in Krugerville.  We wanted to decorate our house like a Haunted House, but we ran out of time.  We were able to put up a few lights, carved some pumpkins, and get some dry ice.  But we only have 5 groups of people come by.  Hopefully we will get our act together earlier next year.

Aubrey Pumpkin Patch

David and I visited the Aubrey Pumpkin patch.  Of course, it is a place mainly for kids, but it's closer than going to Wal-Mart.  The lady that owns it was really nice, but stood firm on her pumpkin prices.  David couldn't talk her down.  Then had animals and a little maze and hay rides for kids.  We bought 3 pumpkins to carve.

My Favorite Holiday

I love Halloween! It's a holiday based around candy and scary movies. What more could you ask for? At work we had a little pizza party for lunch. Janet won our costume contest. She went as our supervisor, Cindy. Halloween night, I went over to Sandy's sister, Becky's, house. The neighborhood was alive with children. I haven't seen anything like it since I was their age. Kids were in costumes running all over the place. People were sitting outside handing out candy. Everyone had their houses decorated. Eight of us escorted Blythe around the neighborhood. David was a pirate and I was a baby. A lost dog ran out in front of a car and David saved her. He called the number on the collar and held her until the owners came. He was the hero of night! And one of the best parts was we got to sleep in an extra hour the next day due to daylight savings time.
